Textile remains in archaeology
The material evidence of textiles and textile production are very scant. Weights and spindle-whorls are what remains of looms and distaffs, while all that has been preserved of clothes and cloth are a few accounts in ancient sources and scarce remains of fabric. The adopted interdisciplinary approach based on archaeological methods, archaeology and experimental archaeology enables interpretation of meagre archaeological data about the missing material, presenting them in an entirely new context.
