Paleoenvironmental reconstruction and the influence of climatic changes on the appearance and evolution of prehistoric communities

Paleoenvironmental reconstruction plays an important role in the reconstruction of life of prehistoric communities. In northern Croatia, such a reconstruction is planned in the framework of geological, palynological and malacological research, as well as dendrochronology. In addition to paleoenvironmental reconstruction, data obtained in this way will be used as climatic markers. Previous work had focused on global climatic indicators, but it is now becoming increasingly clear that paleoenvironment and climate ought to be reconstructed at micro-spatial level. Climatic indicators, on global scale, are comparable with the appearance and evolution of most prehistoric communities in Europe, including communities in the observed area. Even though social changes were not caused exclusively by climatic changes, in their extreme phases they certainly played a very important role. The specific aim of this topic is to mark the degree of influence of climatic changes on communities in the observed area.
