Ceramics in archeology
Studies are focused on the pottery production process and the production of construction ceramics and a variety of ceramic items. The analysis of individual phases of chain of operations are conducted in order to reconstruct and understand the entire manufacturing process that turns raw material into a final object or vessel. The results of such research have a direct impact on archaeological interpretation which applies in particular to the organization of production, social organization, traditions and identity. The research objectives are to establish standards for ceramic analysis, to establish the basis for the creation of a database and educate through the organization of workshops and lectures.
During the research, the following methods and sources are used:
- Archaeometry of ceramics - analysis of raw materials and archaeological ceramics: petrography and mineralogical analysis, simultaneous thermal, chemical analysis etc.
- Analysis of ceramics fresh fracture using a digital microscope (Dino Lite).
- Macroscopic trace analysis of the pottery production and use
- Systematic experimental studies
- Ethno-archaeological analogy
Activities / Organization of conferences / round tables / workshops / seminars
